Human Factors in Safety Engineering
6/20/2025 - 8:30am-9:25am
Both traditional and novel approaches in safety have something in common – built-in human factors. By considering the human factors of common abilities such as vision, perception, and reaction, safety engineers have tools to enable safer behaviors and interactions. This session will highlight human factors, their effects on how road users behave and interact on roadways, and the tactics engineers can employ with this knowledge. Florida examples will be provided to illustrate how these concepts have been applied.
